China, 17th century - Lot 151
China, 17th century Celadon-gray glazed stoneware bowl with flared wall and small heel, enhanced with a few cursive Chinese characters. With a "Christie's Vung Tao Cargo" label. D. Note: the Vung Tao was a ship that sank off Vietnam around 1690, carrying Chinese ceramics to Indonesia, where it seems most of them were to be loaded aboard a Dutch East India Company vessel. These ceramics were sold at Christie's Amsterdam in April 1992. Expert: Cabinet Ansas, Papillon & de Léry
