Wang Hing was one of China's most prestigious goldsmiths. The firm specialized in the manufacture of silver and gold objects and began production in Canton in 1842. Renowned for the high quality of its pieces, Wang Hing opened several boutiques and established itself in the 1920s in Shanghai and Hong Kong. Highly appreciated by foreign customers from Europe and the United States, the company became a supplier to Tiffany & Co. The pieces produced were inspired by traditional Chinese designs: bamboo, cherry blossoms and dragons were among the company's favourite themes. The prestigious firm closed its doors in 1941 following the Japanese invasion.
