Ring in silver sup. 800/°°° and rose gold 585/°°° set with a - Lot 109
Ring in silver sup. 800/°°° and rose gold 585/°°° set with a cameo on agate depicting a profile (Stanislas Leszczynski?) surrounded by old cushion-cut diamonds. Central cameo 1750-1760. Size 25 x 20.30 mm. Finger size (cut ring): 54. Gross weight : 6.27 g
According to a small handwritten note in the case, this ring was given by Stanislas of Poland to Commandant Jean-François d'Escherng (?), King's Consul in Lyon in 1768, and is housed in an antique royal-blue velvet case (pre-1875) signed "Fontana & Cie Palais Royal 93 & 94 Près la Rotonde Paris" (accidents).
This piece can also be compared with a ring from the antique coin collection of the cabinet de médailles (BNF Paris 2), whose cameo is the work of Jacques Guay. The ring is reproduced in the catalog des camées antiques et modernes de la BNF by Mr. Jean Pierre Babelon in 1974.
